We are excited to share that our latest research, “High-Resolution Downscaling of Disposable Income in Europe Using Open-Source Data” has been published in Earth’s Future! 🌍📊
In this study, we developed a novel machine learning approach that estimates per capita disposable income at 1 km resolution across Europe for the year 2015. By leveraging a set of 26 socioenvironmental predictors, we created a gridded dataset that provides deep insights into spatial patterns of income distribution.

Why does this matter? High-resolution income data can open up new avenues for exploring the complex relationships between economic inequality and environmental factors - from climate exposure to access to green space and other public amenities. This kind of data is critical for researchers, urban planners, and policymakers who aim to design more equitable and sustainable communities.
Stay tuned as we are planning to use this dataset to adress original questions in relation with climate justice.
